Segons l’últim Eurobaròmetre Especial d’Agricultura (EBEA), el 89 % dels ciutadans de l’Estat espanyol i el 83 % dels de la Unió Europea (UE) mostren un suport elevat a la Política Agrària Comuna (PAC) i al manteniment de les ajudes.
L’estudi ressalta que un 90% dels enquestats considera que l’agricultura i les àrees rurals són importants per al futur d’Europa, tant a la UE com a l’Estat. Destaca que les responsabilitats que la societat assigna als pagesos són la producció d’aliments sans i segurs, segons opina el 56% dels enquestats a la UE i el 50% a l’Estat, així com la protecció del medi ambient (el 34% dels ciutadans espanyols i el 25% dels europeus).
Respecte a altres qüestions, els ciutadans de l’Estat (un 30%) valoren més que els europeus (21%) el manteniment de l’economia a les àrees rurals, seguit de la diversitat i de la qualitat dels productes (20% a l’Estat, davant un 24% a Europa).
Quant a les prioritats de la PAC, tant a la UE (59%) com a l’Estat (49%) són la necessitat d’assegurar aliments sans i saludables i mantenir un nivell de vida adequat per als pagesos (el 41% dels europeus i el 54% dels enquestats a l’Estat), així com preus raonables en els productes agraris (el 49% a Europa i el 54% a l’Estat).
